What visitors say

★★★★★

“Singapore is a relatively young country with a fairly short history. Yet, since its founding, it has drawn fortune-seekers hoping to share in the fruits of a thriving (port) economy. Far from all of them lived in luxury, but thanks in part to their hard work, Singapore grew steadily more prosperous and built its reputation as a metropolis. People of different origins (China, Malaysia, India, and others) were housed by the British in so-called quarters. These quarters soon proved too small and had to expand — and besides, people don't always stay where they're put, so mixed communities emerged as well. All of this shaped the Singapore we know today. On the just-over-5-hour walk through Chinatown, Kampong Glam, and Little India, Eunice took us on a journey through time across the fascinating history of this small country. Several threads ran through the tour: alongside history and urban planning, we got to take in contemporary artworks, and of course sample the delicious food that the national (or fusion) cuisine has to offer. Eunice's enthusiasm and the rich variety of the tour made the time fly by as we eagerly soaked up every impression. In a very short time, we came away with a much fuller picture of this country. Highly recommended.”

“I love this night tour of Geylang. Wei was very knowledgeable and you could tell that he had a great knack for story telling. I found his explanations sufficiently nuanced and seeing the neighbourhood with him you got a sense of a person who really cares about the neighbourhood in addition to knowing a lot about it. It was a perfect experience to have alongside the more manicured sides of Singapore. Geylang came alive for me and my friend, and you got a sense of Singapore a crisscrossing place where not only the food was various but also the people. You got a sense of the multiculturism that exists outside of the broader social engineering of Singapore’s public spaces. I loved this and would recommend the tour and Wei specifically. The fact that it was a food tour was more than a bonus”

“An amazing tour with the wonderful Eunice. She did a brilliant job of touring us around Chinatown, teaching us the history of the area, and giving us an insight into the present day Singapore. She was conscious of our comfort on the tour (it was a rather hot day!), so ensured there were plenty of opportunities to sit down, cool down, and refill our water bottles. We particularly enjoyed Eunice's personalisation of the tour by talking about her and her families experiences living in Singapore. After the tour she was kind enough to email us all the recommendations she had given throughout the tour, which I appreciated considering I can't always remember them all. I would whole heartedly recommend Eunice and the Indie Singapore team for your walking tour in Singapore.”

“Went on two tours with Indie Singapore, and I absolutely recommend! We were guided by Wei on the Kampong Glam tour~ His storytelling is incredible, he made me feel like a tourist in my own country, and I kept learning things that had me gasping in excitement!! Jacqueline’s Little India tour had some fascinating moments too, and she was lovely to chat with! Overall a great way to see the city with fresh eyes ⭐️”
